Colonel Cody's early experiments with kites took place at Aldershot.

Colonel Cody,in order to demonstrate the lateral stability of his machine ,on Saturday February 4th 1911 carried a passenger on his biplane over Laffan's Plain, standing on the lower main plane, 10 ft. 6 ins from the fuselage in order to demonstrate the lateral stability of his machine. The name of the brave (foolhardy?) passenger is unknown, but surely he must have been the very first wingwalker.

The wreck of Colonel Cody's Waterplane.Colonel Cody was killed when the aircraft crashed on 7th August 1913.Both Cody and his passenger Mr W Evans ,died when the aircraft suffered a structural failure and crashed into trees at the foot of Ball Hill. .

Colonel Cody's Funeral Procession.Colonel . Col.Cody was buried, with full military honours, in the Aldershot Military Cemetary .
